What if we told you that gender has only ever been binary culturally?
It’s true! If we look at the science behind sex and gender, the reality is far from being black and white.
We often think of sex and gender as being defined by our chromosomes. But did you know that chromosomes are part of a spectrum as well? Scientifically it is much more complex than the typical XX for women and XY for men you have been taught in school.
Don’t even get us started on the complexity of hormones and how they can’t define gender clearly either! (you can still learn more about hormones and gender on slide 6 and 7 😉).
Lucky for us we can change our culture so it better reflects science. The world is not black and white, it never was. It’s time we start appreciating all the colors it’s made of! 🌈
